Dental Fillings

Our dentists are very well trained in placing dental fillings to replicate and restore the function and aesthetics (the look) of teeth.

Do I need a dental filling?

What you need to do

By performing a thorough dental check up, our dentists can determine if dental fillings are needed and you’ll be presented with various options. If you have booked an emergency dental visit, we will assess if and what type of dental filling might solve your problem.

How does the dentist place a dental filling?

Where necessary, our dentist will ensure that your tooth and the section of your mouth is numb before anything is done.

After which the dentist will remove all of the Tooth decay using dye’s to detect all remaining decay. After this, the dentist prepares the tooth to ensure that the filling will last as long a possible.

Our dentist will clean and prepare the tooth surface so that the tooth-coloured filling will bond and stick to it.

This is where you as the patient never see the quality of work that we put in. There is huge difference between a good filling preparation and placement than to another one.

Lastly, we polish the filling to ensure it looks natural and will function naturally. This also enables the tooth to have a bright shine to it.

What is the cost of dental fillings?

Dental fillings have a variable cost because of the difficulty and positioning of the filling.
We take into account the size, the location and the difficulty to place the filling.

Other factors include needing to use different materials (E.g. composite resin, gold or ceramic) and whether there are additional procedures are required Do we need to reinforce the tooth with pin placement, dental pulp capping (protecting the nerve of the tooth)

What are the dental filling materials made of?

Our preference is using beautiful tooth-coloured fillings, which contain composite resins. These fillings will  come in different tooth-coloured shades to match your teeth.

There are situations where where we may recommend fillings & restorations made from porcelain or gold if the tooth is extremely weakened.
